Currently, there is a very rare natural phenomenon occurring in the Lower Austrian / Styrian border region:
A few centimeters thick layer of ice is piling up on trees, traffic signs, fences, etc. The reason behind this phenomenon is a mixture of dense fog, high humidity and rain, combined with low temperatures of around zero degrees, a great danger known as “Eisbruch”. Many trees bend or break off due to this. As a result they cascade down the streets and rooftops.
